Howdy and welcome to Town Talk, the column that loves irony …Like the Alaska state government taking Greenpeace to court because environmental organization’s boat didn’t have the proper safety equipment.Or the European Union (aka The Euroweenie Union), which is banning plagues to Euro-society such as American cap guns cap because they don’t meet their more stringent European noise standards (the Euro cap gun noise must, obviously, be a whine, not a bang); cheap Chinese disposable lighters because they tend to flare up, which is most of the fun; and yoyo waterballs (wasn’t he a guitar player with Strawberry Alarm Clock?)Movin’ right into it.

Lost a soccer jerseyEric lost his Vail Valley Soccer Club jersey, and needs it back. This is one of those tough-love kinds of deals, and if he can’t come up with it he can’t play. The jersey is blue, with the number “2” emblazoned on it. He lost it at the Miller Ranch artificial turf field. If you can help him, call 376-6180.

Shannon says thanksShannon was in an automobile accident a while back, and wants to say “thanks” to the woman who stopped to help. “She’s the only one who cared. Please tell her how grateful I am.” Glad to.Wild Wine Tasting

If you want to support local elementary kids, and you do, Wild Wine Tasting is just the ticket. Riverwalk Wine and Spirits in Edwards is hosting the event, an adult celebration to benefit Wild West Day. The event will happen from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at the Hyatt Beaver Creek. Cuisine Catering will do the food and door prizes will be awarded. There’s a live auction, including a Vail/Beaver Creek ski pass. Tickets are $30. Get them at Riverwalk Wine and Spirts or at the door. You’re smarter than thisZachary Lee Foust, 19, of Chapel Hill, N.C., was arrested on charges of breaking and entering and theft, and was taken to the county jail for booking. Once at the jail, the arresting officer noticed his cell phone was missing – and Foust looked nervous and was avoiding eye contact. Then the officer heard a “beep” from Foust’s leg. He searched him and found his phone in Foust’s shoe. The officer added another theft charge to Foust’s lineup. Does that mean he was entitled to another phone call?
