Town of Eagle voters nix cemetery property tax increase for maintenance, website development
EAGLE — Voters in the Eagle area rejected a proposed property tax increase from the Eagle Cemetery District.
The proposed increase would have generated an estimated $40,670 in revenue for the district, which has an annual operating budged of approximately $53,000.
The estimated impact of the increase would have been $1.32 per year for each $100,000 of home value.
Cemetery district officials said the additional proceeds would have paid for increased water and maintenance costs, website development, modernized record keeping and further development of plots and memorial areas on property already deeded to the cemetery.
