Howdy and welcome to Town Talk, the column that steals from George Carlin when he asks, “When someone asks you, “A penny for your thoughts,’ and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny?”

Movin’ straight into it.

Today’s Town Talk springs from the fertile mind of Bryce Scott, an Eagle Valley High School freshman and good deed doer in training.

Hi, My name is Bryce Anthony Scott, a reporter for the Devils Advocate high school newspaper. Today, I want to share to you a little about me.

I was born Dec. 11, 1988, in San Bernadino, CA. I lived there for three years. I then came to Colorado, where I lived with my mom and my sister.

I would like to thank all these people who have been in my life, and made it great. First, my mom, for sticking with me when I was down. Also, my father, for having a good time with me. For Jeff, my step dad, who taught me the value of life and God. And to my brother, Jeffrey, who is very cool and funny.

These are the people in journalsim class: Kyla New, Gary Warfield, Bryce Scott, Hattie Higgins, Nikko Grambow, Natasha Salier, Kenia Marrero, Alyson Calhoun, Jenna Rowe, Jenna Salles, and Jamie Jay. Also, a big thanks to Ms. Cessna, for teaching us how important news is to our lives.

Finally, I would like to end with a quote that I think fond of:

“I can’t let you inside, since I am out. But if you go inside, and want to come out, just knock, and I’ll open the door for you.”

– Alice in Wonderland

Ring in the Holidays

The Vail Valley Salvation Army needs you to help ring the Salvation Army bells during the holiday season. The money pays for the Salvation Army food pantry, holiday food basket program and the emergency assistance fund. They’ll be ringing bells in Avon, Vail, Edwards, Minturn, Gypsum and Eagle. Get your group involved. They’ll be ringing Nov. 28-Dec. 24. Call 926-3704.

Walk for Good

There’s a one-mile benefit walk for hunger relief in Tanzania, Thanksgiving morning in Eagle. Meet 10:30 a.m. at Eagle Town Park where donations will be accepted to purchase maize, the primary food source in Tanzania. The actual walk begins at 11 a.m. Participants can purchase replica bag of maize for $17 as Christmas tree ornaments. That money will buy a 220-pound bag of maize, which will feed one Tanzanian family for a month. If you can’t attend, send money to First Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 391, Gypsum, CO 81637. Please note “Prayer Walk” in the memo portion of the check.
