Vail, CO Colorado
Even Vail's Olympic and World Champions are dwarfed by the 12-foot 'Edge' downhill skier, weighing in at 3,000 pounds. 'The Edge' is Vail's Mountain Plaza new centerpiece by Colorado Sculptor and Vail skier Gail Slatter Folwell.

Vote for Lindsey

Lindsey Vonn, the superstar skier who trained here with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, is up for an ESPY Award at the July 20 ceremony.

As you probably know, Lindsey had an amazing year, becoming the first American woman to win the World Cup Overall title since Tamara McKinney in 1983. She also won the downhill title this year.

The competition is tough for the award: golfer Lorena Ochoa, car-racer Danica Patrick, and hoops star Candace Parker.

We implore everybody to go to the ESPY Web site at and vote for Lindsey. We hope our boy Justin Timberlake ” who himself has been known to grace the slopes of Vail ” will be handing Lindsey an ESPY on later this month.

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

Benefit concert Friday

The good folks at the Colorado Ski Museum reminded us that there’s a benefit concert this Friday at Beaver Creek’s Vilar Center that supports the educational initiatives of the museum and the Vail Valley Foundation.

We’re lucky that we have organizations like these ones that do so much for the valley’s youth.

Tickets to the concert cost $95 for adults and $40 for children. Performers include country singer Suzy Bogguss as well as Jim Salestrom, a protege of John Denver.
