Town Talk

Happy fifth birthday, Wells Gillette! Love, all of your friends at Mountain Montessori.

Deals and Diapers

Howdy and welcome to Town Talk, where we are floating on Cloud Nine after scoring the best deal ever in Vail Village over Labor Day weekend.

Don’t get us wrong, the Sunday farmers’ market in Vail always is a delight. And we definitely enjoyed some of the nibbles we picked up at the Gourmet on Gore event. But the highlight of the weekend was the massive sale going on at Oilily, the whimisical clothing store located next to Los Amigos at the base of Vail Mountain.

Not only were we able to pick up a few adorable shirts for our little one next summer, we picked up a diaper bag that is so huge, yet so bright, happy and fun it could cure doldrums in a matter of minutes. It has stripes of every shade of the rainbow and shiny, bright-pink handles. It’s also huge, as we said before, and certainly provides enough room for diapers, wipes, multiple changes of clothing, baby food, toys, a Baby Bjorn, a 7-11 Big Gulp cup full of coffee, lunch for two adults, a winter coat and an economy pack of Tylenol. Basically, just the bare necessities when leaving the house with a 7-month-old.

Beaver Creek Rodeo Royalty tryouts for 2009 are Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Eagle County Fairgrounds. Applications can be picked up at the Eagle County Extension Office. Deadline to submit applications is Sept. 19. For more information, please contact Lyndsay Jo Smith at 970-878-3791.

In memory of Leroy Joe Valencia, who passed away two years ago today, we love and miss you more with each passing day.

If tears could build a stairway

And memories a lane

I would walk right up to Heaven

And bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken

No time to say good-bye.

You were gone before I knew it

And only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness

And secret tears still flow

What it meant to love you

No one could ever know.

I know you want me

To mourn for you no more

But to remember all the happy times

Life still has much more in store.

I pledge to you today

A hallowed place within my heart

Is where you will always stay!

Love and miss you, your sis Viola and family.
