Town Talk

Tyra Rudrud (holding Erich Lepovsky), Jill Lipvosky and husband Matt, Joyce Bradley and Kristin Kenney-Williams of the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group.

The line was out the door at 6 p.m. and still out the door at 8 p.m. for the Jill Lipovsky fundraiser at Rick and Kelly’s American Bistro in Edwards Thursday night. The restaurant was as full as it ever has been with people wall to wall, drinking, chatting, munching and having a great time. It wasn’t a social mixer or a night out on the town, the restaurant was packed to the gills for only one reason ” to help a young mom.

Jill Lipovsky is a beautiful young mother with two children and a third on the way. She also has cancer and has frequent visits for chemotherapy.

If you ever have doubts that our community has a serious case of the warm and fuzzies, you should have been at Rick and Kelly’s. The silent auction rivaled any big-time fundraiser of the summer. Liquor was all donated, and Rick Colomitz and Kelly Liken donated the food and the venue. Children who were there had their faces painted. Despite the ever-growing nature of our valley, some things never change, like generosity and a true desire to help when someone is down and out.

The Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group stepped up, too, by giving Jill a large check to help offset her medical expenses and two $50 checks to her two young children for a “day to play.” Pick up a copy of the Vail Trail on Friday to see more photos of the fundraiser!
