There will be a memorial for McGuey Sunday at 11 a.m. at the deck on Eagles Nest, at the top of the gondola. Those who want to attend, but don’t want to ski can get a special pass at the ticket window or office at Lionshead. After the memorial there will be refreshments in the Sprint room at Eagles Nest, and those who brought their skis are invited to take a run or two for Jean.

Lisa Brown called recently with an update about the “cut-a-thon” several local salons held Jan. 23 to help the tsunami relief effort.
Eight salons and one spa raised more than $9,400 over the course of the day. That money has been handed over to Alpine Bank, which is matching donations, then sending the cash to UNICEF.
“Lots of our clients didn’t get haircuts, but made sizable donations anyway,” Brown said. “It all went really great.”
In addition to Pure Life Skin Care in Edwards, participating salons were: Axis, Bliss, Allegria Spa, Bang’lz Salon, Salon Nouveau, West One, Looking Good, and Montanas Salon.
Good work, everybody!
