When you turn 100, you should have lots of parties. With that in mind, Eagle’s centennial celebration will continue with a “Potluck in the Park” on July 21. The party will take place in the Eagle Town Park from 6-7:30 p.m. during the ShowDownTown concert featuring the Gamble Brothers. The town of Eagle and the Eagle Centennial Committee will provide barbecued beef sandwiches, hot dogs, lemonade and punch, dinnerware and birthday cake. Everyone else is asked to bring a covered dish. Lutherans and Methodists know the drill. If your last name starts with A-G, bring a salad; if your name starts with H-N, bring a side or vegetable dish; and if your name starts with O-Z, bring a dessert. A crowd of 400-500 is expected, but don’t feel obligated to cook for that many.

Dawn and Dan Horner are in a bad way.

The Horners’ home in the Green Acres mobile home park near Eagle burned to crisp late last month. The couple lost everything, and they had no insurance.

A donation account for the Horners has been set up at Alpine Bank in Eagle, and some jars are sprouting up at downvalley businesses.
