… Dave needs help Friends are lining up to help Dave Marjoram. In October, Marjoram, a local referee and soccer enthusiast, got sick while refereeing a high school game.

He had opened a sports drink during the game and after returning to it and drinking it felt a little strange. He became short of breath, had chest pains, and had to be looked at by paramedics who were at the game. Dave’s condition was so severe he had to be flown to a Denver hospital. After many hours of testing doctors determined that Dave had swallowed a wasp which had stung him in his esophagus and caused swelling in his internal organs. The bill for the flight, tests and treatment ran to $50,000, and the insurance company that covers state referees denied his claim, calling it an “illness,” not an injury. as his injury was not an injury sustained on the field and have classed it as an illness. That means Dave is working two jobs, seven days a week, to keep up with the payments. To help, Dave’s friends are putting on a benefit on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Gore Range Brewery. There will be collection jars placed around and a keg of beer will be sold in individual pints with all of the proceeds going to Dave.
