Hura benefit SundayLongtime local Ed Hura could use some help from the community. Hura, who has bone cancer, is now living in a nursing home in Denver. His friends are holding a benefit for him from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Sandbar. There’s a $5 minimum donation. There will be live entertainment, including Rod Powell, Peter Fontenese and members of Westwood and Wooden Nickel. There will also be deals on beer, a silent auction and free snacks. Ed came to Vail in 1972 and first worked at Vail Associates’ rental shop. He later worked as a surveyer, a snowmobile mechanic, a ski patroller and on the snowcat crew. He was diagnosed with bone cancer in November.Dinner time!

Eagle County’s 4-H clubs and the fifth-grade girls from the Vail Academy are holding a dinner for the valley’s senior citizens on April 14.The Italian-style dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the exhibit hall at the Eagle County Fairgrounds.
