Dine on authentic Mediterranean fare such as Grecian-style moussaka (pictured), lamb tartar, chicken mishwee and other exotic dishes tonight at The Blue Plate in Avon as they host their Wednesday fundraiser for Syrian refugees. Ten percent of all sales will be donated to the Syrian Red Crescent through the American Red Cross for relief efforts. The call for support of this weekly fundraiser has not gone unanswered by the valley's generous locals. Visit Walking Mountains Science Center today for The Science Behind Medicinal Gardens at 6:30 p.m.! Plants and gardens have a greater purpose than simply to be eye-catching sources of food. Discover the science behind designing a medicinal garden. During this program, we will discuss the history and origins of medicinal plants and examine the health benefits of plants such as arnica, lavender, basil and chamomile.
