Town Talk for August 3

SOS Outreach would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2010 Dusty Boot Colorado-Eagle River Ride. The event was another great success with more than 750 riders this year. In addition, we'd like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers and the community for making it possible. Without the collective effort, the ride would not be possible. Together, we are providing dynamic programs for 5,000 youth nationally, with nearly 2,000 from Eagle County. Thank you!

Tell us what’s going on around town so we can talk about it.

My name is Charlie Clarke, and my friend and I had our bikes removed from outside of Samana on Friday night. Theory has it that two people needed to get home and decided to use our bikes (thank you for leaving our helmets). Most folks wake up on Saturday and make efforts to return the bikes to the place of last beverage (not yet). The bikes are a GT XCR-LE (silver frame with a red rear end, blue seat and Chris King hubs) and a Specialized FSR S-works (yellow frame with a grey rear end, silver seat and Shimano DX flat pedals). Anybody with any info or looking for a place to return the bikes to can call me at 970-333-0210. Thank you all in advance. Ride fun, and ride safe.

If you want to join in on the fun, come join us for a smashin’, bashin’ and crashin’ good time at the Eagle County Fairgrounds on Aug. 20. Put them ol’ clunkers to use, and sign up. Call Sherry at 970-328-6069 or 970-390-9985.

The CJ Spiegel Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. It is a four-person scramble and costs $100 per person. It will be held at the Gypsum Creek Golf Course. Entertainment, drinks and food will be supplied. This tournament is being held to raise awareness in the mountain communities about organ and tissue donations and to celebrate the lives of those who have donated, as well as those that have received these precious gifts. All proceeds go to the Donor Alliance and American Transplant Foundation. Call Susan Spiegel with any questions or to sign up a team at 970-904-1171.
