Battle Mountain High School Student Council is hosting a fundraiser for a local toddler battling leukemia. Bekkem Dean Barela was diagnosed with AML leukemia just a few days before his first birthday in September. Both of his parents, Ashia and William Barela, are Battle Mountain graduates and have been struggling with Bekkem’s diagnosis. To help the Barela family during this difficult time, BMHS Student Council would like to invite you to drop off your kids for a day of holiday crafts, cookie decorating and more on Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $25 for four hours of babysitting and $10 for each additional child, with all proceeds benefiting baby Bekkem and the Barela family. There will also be a cookie sale for parents at drop -off and pickup. For more information and to register your child, please contact Charlie Grant at email@example.com or Brittany Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
