Town Talk for Feb. 1
Thank you to the Vail Valley community for teaching me how to hold a silent auction in support of a good cause. For their generous donations in support of Cycle for Survival 2013, I’d like to thank Dennis and Kimberley, of Kimberley’s Fine Jewelery; Kate Wingard, of Church and State Optics; and Wendy Lew, of Wendy Lew Designs. The Vail Daily and the Vail Valley keep on giving – with much gratitude, Sandie Aveil.
Please join longtime Eagle County resident, mom, nurse, community volunteer and loyal friend Suzy Black as she hosts her first fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Uncork the Cure will be held Friday from 7 to10 p.m. at Castle Peak Grille, 0101 Fawcett Road, Avon. The event includes dancing, food stations and wine, of course!
There will be music by Jonny Magambo and a silent auction closing at 9:30 p.m. A $25 minimum donation is suggested, and all are welcome! Please come out for a great time! Visit https://www.wepay.com/events/uncork-the-cure-vail for more information.
Join the Education Foundation of Eagle County, E•f(ec), and Walking Mountains Science Center for Tom Hackett: Conquering the English Channel. An introduction will be given by Exterra world champion Josiah Middaugh. Join us Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Walking Mountains Science Center in Avon. Be sure to reserve your spot today – seating is limited!
Come and meet with other Eagle Valley homebrewers this Sunday at the Bonfire Brewery from 2 to 5 p.m. in Eagle. We’ll take a detailed brewery tour, talk at length with Bonfire’s brew masters, learn to sample-grade beers using the BJCP scoring system and much, much more. For more information, visit mashtuns.org.
