Town Talk for May 20

Vail, CO Colorado

Join us for the Barefoot Mile today at the Battle Mountain High School track from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost is $10 for students and $20 for adults. Many orphans in Uganda walk seven miles to school every day. Come walk one to seven miles with us on the BMHS track to raise money for their school and build awareness of what these students go through in order to get an education. We also will be selling baskets and necklaces made by the student’s grandmothers. The National Honor Society students at Battle Mountain High School have planned this event, and all proceeds go to the Nyaka School. For more information, call Emma at 970-401-3032. Also, visit www.nyakaschool.org.

Tell us what’s going on around town.

Red Sandstone Elementary is doing a recycling fundraiser of electronics: old cellphones, iPods, iPads, Playstations, e-books, MP3 players, laptops, digital cameras, video recorders, GPS devices, radar detectors, Wii, handheld games, etc.

The fundraiser is a great way to dispose of your old electronics responsibly and not put toxins into our landfills. It is even tax-deductible. Simply drop items off at Red Sandstone Elementary at 551 North Frontage Road next to the pedestrian bridge. Any questions, please contact Mary Hawkins at 970-328-2910.
