Let’s get ready to rummage

The Eagle County Charter Academy’s annual rummage sale is Oct. 18-19, and they’re accepting donations. It’s the perfect opportunity to unload a bunch of meaningless stuff belonging to your spouse and/or significant other. Call Muffy at 926-3890.

Domino’s dough raising for Vail Velocity

The Vail Velocity U14 girls soccer team is headed to the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida for the 3v3 national championships. The wonderful folks at Domino’s Pizza are running a Dough Raising on Thursday. You buy a pizza, and the Vail Velocity gets a slice of the action. Prohibit pet parenthood

The Eagle County Humane Society’s bi-annual spay and neuter discount runs through October. Pet owners can save $20 off the cost of the procedure for their pets. Call 328-PETS for more information.

Pasta pool

Down in Eagle they’re raising money to make their big, new pool even bigger. Saturday is the Friends of the Pool “Fun”d Weekend Pasta Dinner. It runs from 5-8 p.m. at Eagle’s Brush Creek Pavilion. You can overeat for $6 per person, $20 for family of four.

On Sunday, run off your gluttony with the “Fun”d Weekend Run/Walk. It’s 9 a.m. at the Eagle Ranch Pavilion. It’ll cost you $15, and there are 10K, 5K and one mile runs. The Friends of the Pool is an Eagle/Gypsum based group raising money to add two more lap lanes to Eagle’s new swimming pool. Tickets available at Kidtopia, Copy Plus, WECMRD, or call Stephanie Samuelson at 328-1029.

Swap Before the Swap

This very weekend you need to be at the Swap Before the Swap. Basically, here’s the deal. Starting Friday and running through Sunday, a bunch of locally-owned bidnesses are getting together at Venture Sports in Avon for a giant sale and human ski-in. Venture Sports Mountain Quest, Buzz’s, All Mountain Sports, Boot Lab., SOS, and a cast of thousands will be around. Sunday is the area’s first tailgate sale. It’s a ski flea market with no admission charge. Anyone with gear to sell or swap is invited to hawk their wares. Call 949-1318.

Gorsuch and Nelson are famers

Vail locals Dave Gorsuch and Cindy Nelson are being honored Saturday with induction into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame. There are three other very nice folks, and we’re sure they’ll have a great time Saturday, but we’re all about Dave and Cindy because they’re one of US. It’s down in Westminster at the Westin. Tickets for the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame Gala are $80 for members of the Colorado Ski Museum and $100 for non-members. Corporate table sponsorships are also available.
