Everyone get out your favorite chili recipe for the Battle Mountain High School cheerleaders’ Spooktacular Chili Cookoff on Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at BMHS. The event will raise funds for competitions, uniforms, camp, practice gear and mascot needs. Local media will judge, and a costume contest will be included with terrific prizes. For more details, ask any cheerleader or email bmhscheer@gmail.com.



Battle Mountain High School cheerleaders attended camp at Colorado Mesa University this summer and received many accolades for their hard work, including Best Spirit and 100 percent Super Star awards to Charlie, Jena, Elle, Katherine, Judy and Taylor.

Varsity members are captain Abi Cohen, Shanneil Gayle, Lenny Sanchez, captain Taylor Broughman, co-captain Judy Casteneda, captain Charlie Grant, co-captain Jena Woods, Jazmine Barrios, co-captain Elle Egizii, Shayla Turnbull, Frances Zarate, Sebastian Reyes and Jennifer Vasquez.

Junior varsity members are Samantha Gayle, America Chavez, Edith Gonzales, Katherine Jimenez, Veronica Kanter, Pilar Martinez, Rocio Andrade, Celeste Arvizo, Galilea Gutierrez, Darleen Loya, Jocelin Nieto, Stephanie Rivera, Crystal Rocha, Isabella Trujilla, Araceli Veleta and Luis Q.



Our new coach, Tracy Horn Bossow, is bringing new systems and standards to the cheer program.
