Town Talk for Sept. 2

Vail, CO Colorado
Soccer is back for the fall season. With 36 home games this past weekend, Freedom Park and Eagle-Vail were filled with games on Saturday and Sunday, which brought 36 teams from around Colorado (and even Wyoming) to the Vail Valley. Vail Valley Soccer Club has 26 teams this year and kicked off opening weekend with lots of doubleheaders. The teams reporting both wins this weekend so far were U18 girls gold, U15 girls gold, U14 boys gold, U14 girls WSSL, U13 boys silver, U12 boys gold. Nearly all of our teams won at least one of the two games played this past weekend, which went down as a successful double header weekend for VVSC. VVSC has more than 350 kids in the Valley, from Gypsum to East Vail, who are a part of the club.

This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

The Vail Golf Club will be participating in Patriot Golf Day this weekend. Patriot Golf Day is the flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides post-secondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving our great nation. On Labor Day weekend, today through Monday, Vail golfers will join golfers across the nation and be asked to add an extra dollar to their greens fees to fund Folds of Honor scholarships. The Patriot Golf Day campaign is jointly supported by the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.
