Harp concert in vail today

(Vail, CO) - - Harpist, Margot Krimmel, will play a harp concert at Vail Public Library at 5:30pm on Wed. Aug. 17. Vail Public Library Concert Series will present a unique collaboration of harp music and photographs on Wednesday evening, August 17. The concert will comprised of a solo set of songs by harpist- singer Margot Krimmel, followed by music Krimmel has composed for a slide show of images by Cori Storb. A Denver native, Margot Krimmel has enjoyed many creative collaborations playing music – singing and playing bass with swing trio ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, strumming guitar and singing in a country western band in Steamboat Springs, and playing Celtic harp in her current Irish music duo. It was in the mid 1980’s that Krimmel’s attention turned exclusively to playing the harp - The Sonnenalp Resort in Vail, CO hired her to play harp six nights a week. She brought her various musical influences – pop, jazz-blues and Irish folk. After a few years honing her harp skills (and skiing!), she moved to Boulder, CO and has expanded her career to include pedal and folk harp, recording, teaching and composing. Colorado Public Radio describes Krimmel’s music as ‘Stunning’. Of her performance last fall in Vail, a fan said, “Margot is no ordinary harpist”. www.boulderharp.com Cori Storb is a photographer, whose work walks a fine line between the mystical and the natural, allowing viewers to explore secret corners of the earth, which seem at times fantastical, ethereal or unknowable. A taste of her work can be seen at www.coristorb.com When Krimmel attended Storb’s solo show at The Wolverine Letterpress Gallery in Ft. Collins, CO, she was struck by the magical nature of the photos- simultaneously real and unreal. Inspired, Krimmel approached the artist and asked about collaborating. The results are imaginative and adventuresome.
