Ice art debuts Friday

Paul Wertin with Kevin and Ken of Alpine Ice enjoy the only sunny day thus far during their installation of Arches for The Seventh Annual Triumph Winterfest. Influenced by Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s environmental public art installations, Wertin is transforming the landscape along the Gore Creek Promenade to create an interactive experience for all ages to enjoy. The ice sculpture installation which is illuminated in the evening by controllable LED lights includes 120 blocks of ice weighing 36,000 pounds total. Arches will open Friday, January 17 at 5pm along the Gore Creek Promenade in Vail Village. Visit www.artinvail.com for more information.
