Preseason study

Howard Head Sports Medicine has been conducting a study looking at preseason screening and the potential to predict injury among elite alpine athletes. This year, the study includes about 70 middle and high school student athletes from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. Pictured here is Bryan Bailey, an alpine skier, performing a Functional Movement Screen and Y-Balance Assessment. Once the data from this year’s screening is collected, any incidents of injury this season will be tracked, and Howard Head experts will analyze the results to determine if a relationship exists. They hope to complete the study and make it available to the public within the next two years.
