Rescuing Horses

Mountain Valley Horse Rescue spent Memorial Day weekend with an unexpected task of rescuing seven horses from kill buyers at an auction in Salida. On May 23, MVHR attended the auction to act as a safety net for any horses being bid on by only kill buyers. In spite of an incredible turnout by private buyers, MVHR brought home seven horses otherwise destined for slaughter (a total of 36 were auctioned, and all others went either to rescues or private homes). Now MVHR needs your help! These new additions literally have us bursting at the seems, with 20 horses in the rescue! This is significantly more horses than we have ever had in our care all at once! In addition to the day-to-day care of those who were here before the auction, we will now have the challenge of meeting the needs of these new intakes — please help! In a nutshell, MVHR has lots of work and expenses ahead of us in just the next few weeks. Please help! You can sponsor one horse in particular or send funds to help them all — the Fairplay Horses. You can choose to cover the cost of a certain aspect of their upcoming care or just pitch in toward a bale of hay! No donation is too small and every dime will go toward helping these guys realize the life they were meant to live — as happy, healthy, well loved horses. Donations can be made at http://www.coloradogives.org/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonation&fwID=36173. And on behalf of the Fairplay Horses … thank you.
