Starburst Awards

Representatives from the Colorado Lottery presented a Starburst Award to ECO Trails during the Oct. 21 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Starburst Awards recognize excellence in the use of lottery proceeds in community projects implemented to enhance a community’s environment. ECO Trails was recognized for utilizing a $200,000 Great Outdoors Colorado grant to construct Phase II of the 1.2-mile Avon to Eagle-Vail section of the Eagle Valley Trail. The project was costly due to the steeply sloped terrain and required retaining walls; funding from the lottery was essential to its completion.
