On Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m., at the Avon Public Library, in collaboration with the Literacy Project, will begin its fall session of Reading Buddies. This program is an eight-week session that meets Wednesdays, Sept. 13 through Nov. 1, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Little Buddies (kindergarten through third-gradeers) are paired with Big Buddies (eigth- through 12-graders). They spend the hour reading together, playing reading-based games and participating in group activates. The Avon Public Library is currently recruiting volunteer Big Buddies and Little Buddies. Advance registration and commitment for the eight week session is required. Please contact Rachael Protas, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Sloan Mutter, at email@example.com, for more information. This is an excellent opportunity for teens to gain leadership, responsibility and community service hours as they help foster a love of reading in elementary school students.
