We are proud

Kelly Casber was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Educator Award at the Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics for Region 6. This region is comprised of 20 counties and only one awardee is chosen each year. Jill Buecking, the Eagle County Schools math learning and instruction specialist, nominated Kelly and said, “Kelly has embraced the Common Core shifts and is a leader in her school and the district. Not only is Kelly a true teacher leader, she embodies constructivism and a growth mindset. She is willing to do the work needed to learn and I am in awe of her daily!” Kelly works at Homestake Peak School. She strives to model real applications of mathematics and makes math relevant and meaningful. She states, “We do not simply solve problems on pages in front of us; rather, we find mathematical settings that require us to collaboratively make sense of problems, make connections to our learning in other subjects, model problems and numbers, defend and critique our solutions with precise mathematical vocabulary, and think deeply about the implications of our solutions.” Congratulations Kelly! Eagle County Schools is proud to have you on our team!
