VAIL, Colorado – The Vail Town Council is set on rebuilding the Lionshead parking garage building to build a two- or three-story building that would feature an information center, ski lockers,

a retail space and public

restrooms.

The Town Council listened to design options for the new building Tuesday night, a building members say should be a more welcoming place that links the parking structure to Lionshead Village and Vail Mountain.

After an hourlong presentation, Town Manager Stan Zemler said the council should slow down because the property has a deed restriction on it held by Vail Resorts.

The uses that members are discussing extend beyond the allowed public uses for that property that include transit and parking.

Zemler said the town staff would find out whether the town needs permission from Vail Resorts to move forward with the plans for rebuilding.
