Tracker: Affordable housing planned in West Vail

Vail Resorts plans four floors of housing above a bus station on the North Day Lot. The town would have to pay for the bus station, which could cost $15 million to $19 million.

What they talked about: Council members considered three options for the Chamonix parcel, 4.86 acres of town-owned land in West Vail where a fire station and affordable housing are being planned. There was a low-density, medium-density and high-density option.

The council chose to pursue medium-density proposal, which would put 51 affordable housing units on the site. The high density proposal, which also drew support from council, would have put 78 units of affordable housing on the property.
