Plans to build an equestrian center on 520 acres south of Eagle have been in the works since 2003, but have been held up due to disagreements on whether the facility can provide the water it needs, concerns about the original intended use of the land, and concerns about wildlife in the area. Neighbors in the area worry about increased traffic and want to see drawings of the facilities, which have not yet been provided by the developer.

The plan calls for an indoor arena and stables, two employee bunkhouses, a ranch manager’s home and another possible home on the site. The bunkhouses would house some workers from Adam’s Rib, a gated golf course community.

Members of the Eagle County Planning Commission recommended against approving the project. They felt the golf course employees should be housed at Adam’s Rib headquarters or Frost Creek, like originally agreed upon.

Kummer said he had satisfied all the requirements the planning commission made, but the commissioners wanted more information on what kind of development original agreements called for. The project was tabled for further discussion.
