What they talked about: Minturn may buy a parcel of U.S. Forest Service land, known as the “Boneyard,” in south Minturn. The ordinance would rezone what is now a federally regulated property.

What they said: If Minturn buys the property, it could be rezoned for open space and recreation.

What’s next? Town councilors will vote again May 16 because an ordinance needs two votes to be approved.

How they voted:

What they talked about: Town councilors discussed a bike path that would connect with the one at Dowd Junction. The path would run south and end near Minturn.

What they said: Town councilors approved town staffers’ request to write a grant for a possible $150,000 from the Colorado Department of Transportation. The town would raise money that would match 20 percent of the grant for the path.

What’s next? The grant is due May 31. If the Colorado Department of Transportation approved it, work would begin 2009, 2010 or 2011.
