What they said: Elected to the Commission on Special Events were Bobby Bank, Rayla Kundolf, Bob McKown and Scott Stoughton; elected to the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Committee were John Dawsey, John Monson, Laurie Mullen and Peter Hayda; elected to the Design Review Board was Elisabeth Plante; and elected to the Planning and Environmental Commission was Susie Tjossem.

What they talked about: The owners of two deed-restricted units in Vail Village’s Bell Tower building requested to trade their units at the Bell Tower for another deed-restricted unit at the Altair condo building in East Vail. The two units in the Bell Tower total 597 square feet, while the unit at the Altair is 1,192 square feet.
What they said: Some council members, and members of the public, were concerned that the Bell Tower space was worth much more than the East Vail space, considering the value of real estate in Vail Village. One councilwoman said the Bell Tower space was worth about $1.5 million. The Altair space was purchased for about $420,000.

What they talked about: The council gave preliminary approval to a major amendment to a special development district that would allow the Ramshorn Lodge to add a new floor onto the building. The project would also include adding a new exterior to the building. The height of the building would be 56 feet, up from the 42 feet that’s allowed there now.
What’s next? The council must approve the project on second reading. Approval from the Design Review Board is also needed.
