Tracker " Vail Town Council 5/1/07

How they voted:

Yes: Foley, Gordon, Moffet, Newbury, Slifer.

What they talked about: A proposed law would extend the allowed time for amplified noise in Vail Village and Lionshead from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Several bars that have performers support the proposed law.

What they said: Council gave preliminary approval to the proposed law.

What’s next? The council will consider final approval for the proposal at its next meeting.

What they talked about: The Vail Police Department has written 326 warnings for people who haven’t yet converted to bear-resistant trash cans, Chief Dwight Henninger said.

The town of Vail required the trash cans starting April 15 after a rash of bear break-ins in homes last summer. About 80 percent of Honeywagon customers have made the transition, and 55 percent to 65 percent of Waste Management customers have gotten new cans, Henninger said.

What’s next? The police will now start writing citations for people who don’t have the new trash cans, Henninger said.
