EAGLE, Colorado – The Jammin’ into Fall music series resumes this weekend at the Back Bowl in Eagle, as the Gretchen Troop Band makes its debut appearance this Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Bowlmor Lounge.

Wielding a gritty and soulful voice that commands attention, Gretchen Troop and her band throw you back to a time when the best blues singers still ruled the music world.

Troop was previously the lead singer for one of Denver’s premier funk and blues bands, The Shamans.

After spending considerable time in San Francisco’s jazz-funk influenced music scene, Troop moved to New York and submerged herself in the blues. There, she began developing her own take on blues classics, beginning the creative process that would lead her to perform her own originals alongside many of the standards that still hold up as they have for decades. One look at her set list tells all you need to know about where her loyalties lie. With names like Robert Johnson, Billie Holliday, Willie Dixon and Etta James, you’ll know what to expect from her energetic and soulful performances.

Upon her return to Denver, she threw herself into a vibrant music scene that embraced her traditional sound. Eventually she met the players that would ultimately form the Gretchen Troop Band.
