Trail crew to work in Avon on Monday
AVON —The Avon Recreational Trails Advisory Group will host a community trail restoration project Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the West Avon Preserve. All trail users — bikers, hikers, runners, dog-walkers, people who enjoy the scenery — are encouraged to come out and have fun digging in the dirt, moving rocks and planting seed to reclaim an abandoned, washed-out social trail. Monday’s restoration project will be above Lee’s Way.
The mission of the trails advisory group is to care for the land so the West Avon Preserve trails are maintained for generations to come. Trail restoration activities began last year and will continue throughout the summer with the aim of getting the community to participate in preserving this public asset.
Those interested in participating in this first project of the season should meet at the parking lot at Beaver Creek Point and walk toward Lee’s Way. No equipment is necessary, but it is recommended that participants bring work gloves and water.
