Treasurer sworn in to world panel
EAGLE COUNTY – County Treasurer Karen Sheaffer has been sworn in as treasurer of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers. She will manage the organization’s funds. The organization has 1,500 member and was founded in 1971 by a group of government officials with the intent of establishing a forum for the exchange of information. Members are governmental officials whose responsibilities fall into one of four areas – finance, land records, courts and elections. Sheaffer was appointed Eagle County treasurer and public trustee Feb. 26, 1996. She was re-elected in 1996, 1998 and 2002. She is also the second vice president of the Colorado County Treasurers’ Association and is a member of several national organizations, including the Colorado Government Finance Officers of America and the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers. During Sheaffer’s tenure as Eagle County treasurer, the office has received six national awards from the National Association of County Officials. Sheaffer was named treasurer of the year by the Colorado County Treasurers’ Association in 1998 and 2000.
