Trees to be cut near Minturn starting next week

MINTURN– Forest Service contractors will soon begin cutting and removing beetle killed trees near Minturn to reduce the risk of wildfire. –

Weather permitting, the project will start early next week. Access to parts of the project area is very difficult and as a result, the contractor will use a helicopter to remove trees.

The following trails and areas will be closed during the work:



• Grouse Creek Trail will be closed for three to six days in late October, early November, during helicopter operations. Parking at the trailhead will be restricted.

• Meadow Mountain cutoff trail to the Grouse Creek Trail for three to six days in late October, early November

• Martin Creek Trail will be closed for 10 to 15 days starting some time in late November

Alternative access routes and parking will be available to the public during operations. For updated information about the project and trail closures, call the Forest Service office in Minturn at 970-827-5715.
