Trial begins for woman in Colo. taxi crash that killed 2

Associated Press

DENVER – Opening statements are expected Monday in the trial of a Colorado woman facing vehicular homicide charges in the deaths of two Connecticut women.

Sandra Jacobson is accused of causing an accident in February 2009 that killed 71-year-old Kate McClelland and 54-year-old Kathy Krasniewicz. They were librarians headed to the Denver airport in a taxi after a convention.

Police say Jacobson was driving with a suspended license at the time and had a blood-alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit.

Jacobson told investigators she took cold medicine before and after the crash. Her attorney argues that may have affected the sobriety tests.
