Trista, former agent suing each other

Trista and Ryan will hopefully live happily ever after, but Trista and her former agent likely will not.

Bachelorette Trista Rehn is being sued by her former agent Kevin Allyn in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to media reports.

The television magazine show “Entertainment Tonight” reported that Allyn’s lawsuit asks Rehn for $200,000, or 20 percent, of the $1 million ABC is paying her and soon-to-be-husband Ryan Sutter, the Vail firefighter who won her heart and her hand during last February’s made-for-television “Bachelorette” reality series. Allyn claims he negotiated that $1 million package, Entertainment Tonight reported. Allyn told Reuters he has represented The Monkees, actress Jane Seymour and Bo Derek during his 30-year career, and that he met Rehn in 2002 when she appeared in episodes of ABC’s “The Bachelor.”

According to Allyn’s lawsuit, filed Nov. 19 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Rehn last May asked him to represent her, and agreed to pay him 20 percent of the royalties earned from any movie, television and music work. Reuters reported that a contract filed as an exhibit to the lawsuit says the deal was for three years.

Reuters reported that Allyn said he helped place Rehn in a pictorial for “Maxim” magazine, advised her in entertainment ventures and helped pay for her housing. Allyn told Reuters that early in the deal, Rehn stuck to the contract. He told Reuters she “unilaterally” decided to stop paying him after the $1 million deal with ABC.

Allyn told Entertainment Tonight’s E Online that he understands Rehn might want to keep the $200,000 as a wedding present. However, the lawsuit says “basic contract law dictates that Rehn should pay Allyn the monies she owes him and let him choose an appropriate gift from Rehn’s wedding registry.”

Rehn and Sutter are reportedly in Rancho Mirage, Calif., for their wedding today. The event will be filmed by ABC and broadcast in a two-hour television special, Wednesday.

Wednesday’s wedding special follows two weekly ABC specials sharing Trista and Ryan’s wedding planning and bachelor parties with a national television audience.
