DOTSERO — A trooper-involved shooting Thursday morning has shut down a stretch of Interstate 70 on the Western Slope.
Colorado State Patrol reported a trooper was shot and a suspect killed when “one of our troopers stopped to assist a motorist on Interstate 70 at milepost 129. Shots were fired.”
The trooper is in critical condition and has been taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, CSP reported.
The incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. west of Dotsero, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office and a number of other agencies are on-scene for the investigation.
By Christmas Eve Day 2017, when chairs 7, 10, 11, 14 and 26 still had not yet opened for the season on Vail Mountain, the resort knew something had to be done. Less than two years later Vail Mountain would be completing one of the most ambitious projects in the resort’s history.
