Truck driver killed in I-70 crash

GYPSUM, Colorado – Colorado state troopers responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident Friday on Interstate 70, at mile post 140, near Gypsum, around 5:10 a.m.

A tractor trailer was traveling eastbound when the driver fell asleep, police said. The truck traveled off the left side of the highway into the median and rolled onto its side. The truck came to its final rest on its side.

The driver, Bryan Davies, 57, of Las Vegas, was partially ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck was not carrying any hazardous materials. The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors.

The Colorado State Patrol is reminding motorists to pull over and rest when feeling tired.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Department, Gypsum Fire, Gypsum Ambulance, Colorado Department of Transportation and Big Steve’s Towing responded and assisted with the scene.
