Associated Press

BAILEY, Colorado ” A Longmont truck driver has escaped injury after the semitrailer full of potatoes he was hauling rolled over on U.S. 285 and spilled.

The Colorado State Patrol says 51-year-old Ronald Cole was hauling 40,000 pounds of potatoes when the truck rolled at about 5 p.m. Tuesday between Bailey and Grant, some 40 miles southwest of Denver in Park County.

Part of the load spilled onto the road and into the South Platte River’s North Fork.

About a dozen volunteers were still working Wednesday to pick up the spilled potatoes.

Traffic on U.S. 285 was not affected.
