Eagle, CO Colorado

EAGLE, Colorado –Police found a truck in an irrigation ditch and discovered the driver had been drinking. On Aug. 1 around 7:30, police responded to a report of a truck in the river. The truck was sitting at a 45-degree angle on an embankment just east of mile marker 154 on Highway 6 near Eagle.

One of the truck’s tires had been completely submerged in an irrigation ditch. The driver appeared glassy eyed and disheveled. He smelled of alcohol. He said he had no injuries and refused medical treatment.

Asked by police what he had been doing that day, the man said “I just came down here. I’m kinda homeless. I just came down here to fish.” The man agreed to voluntary roadside maneuvers to determine whether he showed signs of being drunk. The man stumbled uncontrollably when he tried to stand on one foot. A blood test confirmed the man had been drinking, although the report didn’t list his blood alcohol content. Police issued the man a ticket for drunken driving and carelessness.
