Trucker stops near Eagle after being hit by concrete
Eagle County, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” A trucker who thought he’d been shot in the head Sunday while driving on Interstate 70 had been hit by a two-pound chunk of concrete, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office says.
The driver, whose name was not released, was in a red Freightliner semi-truck pulling a white box trailer. He last remembered stopping at a truck stop off of exit 40 on I-70 in Utah earlier Sunday morning.
The driver’s log shows a stop for lunch in Grand Junction between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., but the driver did not remember that, the Sheriff’s Office says.
The driver, who is from Washington state, was pulled over near the Eagle interchange around 2 p.m. when he called to report the incident.
Investigators are not sure where the incident happened, but believe the concrete broke through the driver’s side window and hit him in the head.
The trucker was treated and released from the Vail Valley Medical Center.
The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office are trying to determine whether the incident was a crime or a freak accident.
