Trusting in the stillness within you

There is stillness within; it already exists. It always has, it always will. The stillness is in every one of us. It is in those who do good and those who do bad. It is in those who are sick, and those who are healthy. Silence, stillness and awareness cannot be produced or created. It just is.
Through the veins of our truth lies the stillness. It is the quiet within, even though the voice seems to still be talking. It is the non-movement within, even though there is physical movement. Stillness is where all of creation begins. Stillness is all knowledge. Stillness is power. Everything imaginable and unimaginable is created from stillness. Stillness is divine, God, Buddha, spirit, Mohammad.
There are many concentration methods that teach us to find awareness, stillness. There is the use of breath, of walking in nature, of guided meditation, of music, of dance ” all to help discover stillness. These give us something to do as humans like to ‘do’ something to achieve. The truth is that none of these truly need to be done to achieve stillness ” it is already there.
What we are looking for is a method or tool to find awareness. Our natural condition is one of peace and stillness. The mind is the only thing looking for a way to find it. The mind is the only thing looking for a technique. You are not the mind.
Don’t try to be still. Stillness comes with no effort. Once the mind tries to be still, it has something to do once again. We’ve all been conditioned to believe it is difficult to achieve stillness or meditation. This is only a thought. Sit down and feel that you “just know.”
The aim of spiritual practice is to find your own present experience. Everyone wants to be happy. The spiritual yogi and the drug addict all want to be happy. They just go about it in different ways. Addictions, indulgences and desires that are used to masquerade as happiness are adolescent. When there is no more masquerading, there is no longer a need to use anything to achieve happiness. The seeker begins to not want for much.
This is true stillness. Letting go, not striving for enlightenment; surrender expectations of how things should be ” this is stillness and happiness. By remembering stillness, your awareness will grow. You are tapping into all that is.
One conscious breath can help you remember stillness. Choose in each moment that you will “come home” to the stillness of the divine within. Remembering stillness connects you to the source of all sources that flows through you, and with that you will begin to know who you are.
By trusting in this unknowable force of stillness, you will find that your gifts and your true passions will flow through you with ease. You will begin to know who you truly are. And you will begin to create the world that you truly believe in.
