Try a green smoothie Thursday in Avon
Looking for a delicious way to detox your body for spring, or use those fresh vegetables you learned about at the local food expo last week? Although many supplement-based or fad cleanses may promise you a clean system in a few days, a better approach is sipping a green smoothie or a “green drink.” Recently on his popular TV show, Dr. Oz made green drinks and helped viewers to understand that getting more nutrient-dense food, such as fresh vegetables and fruits into our diets, helps to detoxify our system in the most natural (and tasty) way. If you have been curious about how to whip up some of these vitamin rich and nutritiously delicious recipes, join Jacqui Slavin D.C., functional medicine practitioner at Functional Wellness in Avon for a demonstration and green drink tasting Thursday at 5:30 pm. RSVP required as space is limited. Call 970-704-8500. $5 donation to benefit Colorado Public Radio.
As Oprah says on Oprah.com, Dr. Oz’s green drink is “a glass of fresh.” You can try the Dr. Oz-inspired green drink smoothie by using this recipe:
1 cup spinach
3 stalks celery

1/4 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley
