The above figures assume an automatic sprinkler system with a 65% irrigation efficiency. Higher irrigation efficiencies will reduce irrigation requirement and lower irrigation efficiencies increase irrigation requirement. These recommendations are meant to serve as a general guideline for irrigating cool season turfgrass. Decrease or increase the above figures by 10% for cooler or hotter areas, respectively, or increase irrigation if your turf shows signs of drought stress.

Sports and High Use Turf:

Endures heavy traffic and requires a higher level of maintenance to achieve reasonable quality. Sports fields and residential high-use play lawns.

**

Residential Turf:

Ornamental lawns that have a very good appearance but require less intensive management than high traffic turf.

***

Low Maintenance Turf:

Lawns that are not heavily used during certain times of the year or have reduced maintenance such as less fertilizer, less mowing, etc. At certain times of the year, the grass may look stressed but is alive and requires less water.
