Special to the Daily Ballroom Dance World Exhibition champions Hanna Kartunen and Victor Da Silva of South Africa will perform Saturday for the Vail International Dance Festival's Ballroom's Best at the Ford Amphitheater.

VAIL -Attention ladies and gentlemen. Please fasten your seat belts and bring your chairs and tray tables to an upright position, Ballroom’s Best is about to take flight.The Vail International Dance Festival will transform the Ford Amphitheater into the exhibition dance capitol of the Western world Saturday as Ballroom’s Best, an all-star collection of some of the greatest champions of ballroom dance from around the globe, take the audience on a whirlwind tour of the “Four Seasons.”Headlined by reigning World Exhibition champions Hanna Karttunen and Victor Da Silva from South Africa, the evening will feature a one of a kind collection of edgy jive, spicy Latin, hot tango, smooth waltz and thrilling exhibition dance, exclusively produced by Katherine C. Kersten for the Dance Festival.In addition to Karttunen and Da Silva, Ballroom’s Best will also include Alison Epsom and Paul Killick, Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts, Ana Llorente and Brian Jolly and Eulia Baranovsky and Steven Dougherty.

Trebunskaya and Roberts have both appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” while Killick has partnered with Cyd Charisse and hosted a weekly chat show on dance with John Travolta on PBS.The evening’s twirling bodies and flying feet will be accompanied by some very familiar and eclectic musical selections, including ACDC’s “All Night Long,” Santana’s “Samba Pa Ti,” Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” the Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood” and Billy Idol’s “Hot in the City.” The audience will be treated to a complete cross section of the art form, with dances including the Cha-Cha, Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Rumba, Mambo and Tango on the program. The “seasons” will be divided between the two halves of the show, with Autumn and Winter sharing the stage for the opener and Spring and Summer on tap following intermission.The pyrotechnics and festivities will not just be confined to the stage as the Vail Valley Foundation will celebrate the organization’s 25th anniversary Saturday evening, complete with fireworks and birthday cake following the performance.Tickets for Ballroom’s Best are priced from $14 to $55 and are available by calling 845-TIXS, at either the Ford Amphitheater or Vilar Center box offices or online at http://www.vaildance.org.
