Twist, twirl and tango with the Youth Foundation in Gypsum

VAIL, Colorado – Local youth organization, the Youth Foundation, will host Eagle County’s first ever “Star Dancing Gala” on Aug. 18. A spin-off of the national phenomenon that is ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” the Youth Foundation will literally turn the local fundraising paradigm on its head, approaching the often arduous task of asking for money from a fresh and decidedly more “active” perspective.

Twelve local notables will put their bodies to the test and their courage on the line to raise money for children who need it most on Aug. 18 at the Vail Valley Jet Center. The line up will be a start-studded one to be sure, including Argie Tang, Rob Wright, Rivers Jardis, Dr. Chip Woodland, Doe Browning, Axel Wilhelmsen, Tricia Swenson, Bill Stephenson, Martha Brassel, Sean Pack, Susanna DeChant and Vail Daily columnist Linda Boyne.

Like the real “Dancing with the Stars,” each participant has been paired with a professional dancer and spent the last several months practicing a different style of dancing. Be prepared to be wowed by each of these ambitious pairs, as they are sure to inspire the audience with their poise, footwork, rhythm and choreography.

And while the event is certain to create a few stars, the ultimate stars of this event will most certainly be the children served by the Youth Foundation.

“We hope through this event we are able to expand arts and cultural opportunities for youth in our after-school programs. It is so important for children to have creative outlets and when we can expand access to the arts through after school programs, everyone benefits,” said Katie Bruen, event and marketing director for the Youth Foundation. “We look forward to building awareness of the Youth Foundation programs, while having a great time and raising money for a great cause at the Star Dancing Gala.”
