PUEBLO, Colorado ” Pueblo police have reportedly arrested two suspects in an attempted armored car robbery at a north-side Safeway this morning.

A police dispatcher said the robbery attempt occurred just after 9 a.m. in the Safeway parking lot at 617 W. 29th St.

Initial reports are that two suspects are in custody, no money is missing and no one was hurt, fire spokesman Woody Percival said.

He confirmed that emergency medical technicians were treating someone who had been pepper-sprayed, but he didn’t know whether the victim was a suspect, armored-car guard or bystander.

The police dispatcher had few details on the incident, because investigators are still at the scene.

“It sounds like everything is fine,” said Kris Staaf, spokeswoman for Safeway’s regional office in Centennial.

“We’re cooperating fully with the Pueblo Police Department,” said Staaf, who declined to offer further details because it might interfere with the police investigation.

The store is located a few blocks from Interstate 25 and the Pueblo Country Club.
