Unborn child dies in Mesa Co. chase

GRAND JUNCTION ” A woman’s unborn child was killed when a suspect being chased by the State Patrol collided with her car on Highway 65 in Mesa County.

The woman, Shea Lehnen, 26, of Collbran, Colo., suffered serious injuries; a one-year old in her car suffered minor injuries, the State Patrol said.

The trooper had chased the Jeep for about 15 miles onto Highway 65 when the suspect drove into the oncoming traffic to pass a semi and collided head-on with Lehnen’s Nissan Xterra.

The driver of the Jeep has been identified as Logan Lage, 24, of Grand Junction, the State Patrol said.

He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.

The State Patrol said it suspects alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
