United, Frontier to lay off 606 in Colorado
DENVER, Colorado ” Frontier Airlines says it is cutting 456 jobs in Colorado, and United Airlines has told state officials it plans to eliminate 150 jobs in the state.
Frontier spokeswoman Lindsey Purves (PUR-viss) on Monday confirmed the number of positions her airline plans to eliminate but declined to give details. She did not disclose whether the airline has informed other states of any cuts.
United has sent the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment two notices that it intends to lay off a total of 150 customer-service representatives and “ramp servicemen” in Denver.
United is the No. 1 carrier at Denver International Airport and Frontier is No. 2.
Denver-based Frontier filed for bankruptcy protection in April and warned in June of job cuts without releasing a number. It has about 6,000 employees.
